This is an exciting opportunity to help design and deliver innovative transportation technology solutions that improve roadway safety, mobility, and system performance across Indiana and the broader region. Minimum Requirements • BA/BS and 4 years of relevant experience demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education Preferred Qualifications • 8+ years of experience in ITS engineering, with an emphasis on the planning, design, integration, and implementation of transportation technology systems. • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 6 months. • Experience delivering transportation engineering or ITS projects for the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), other state departments of transportation, or local transportation agencies and municipalities • Demonstrated experience with ITS infrastructure and field technologies, including fiber-optic communications, CCTV, dynamic message signs, vehicle detection, traffic monitoring systems, and communications equipment. • Familiarity with ITS communications network architecture, system integration, equipment interfaces, and the coordination of field devices with traffic management or transportation operations center systems. • Experience applying the systems engineering process, including developing concepts of operations, system requirements, system architecture, interface documentation, and implementation plans. • Experience with traffic engineering activities such as traffic studies, traffic signal design, traffic operations analysis, safety assessments, traffic simulation, or maintenance of traffic design. • Working knowledge of applicable ITS standards, agency design criteria, and transportation technology requirements, with the ability to translate technical requirements into practical design solutions. • Experience preparing engineering plans, technical specifications, cost estimates, reports, and other design documentation for transportation infrastructure projects. • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multidisciplinary technical teams, communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders, and provide technical guidance to early-career staff. • Experience supporting project management activities, including scope and schedule coordination, budget tracking, quality reviews, and client communications. • Strong written and verbal communication skills, sound technical judgment, and the ability to manage multiple assignments while maintaining high-quality deliverables. • Interest in developing toward Deputy Project Management responsibilities, including task leadership, client relationship development, proposal support, and project delivery coordination. • This role does not provide Visa Sponsorship At AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
