CEDA is looking for Heavy Duty Mechanics with welding and fabrication capabilities for our shop location in Regina, Saskatchewan. The successful applicant will provide mechanical services for repair, maintenance and welding for fabrication, repair of a diverse range of mobile equipment and structures in a safe and timely manner. Based out of the Regina shop, with some intermittent onsite work, this position will report to the Operations Manager. The work can be difficult, but we get it done safely with great people. • The ability to get your 3A License, enabling road testing and movement of units wherever required. Key Duties and Responsibilities • Maintenance and repair of specialized pressure and vacuum equipment in an efficient and timely manner. • Troubleshoot and inspect equipment, provide diagnostic and replace or repair defective parts. • Utilize basic welding and cutting techniques adhering to safety protocols. • Ensure quality of welds and rework as required. • Fabricate and assemble fixtures, tooling, shop aids and other devices as required for special projects. • Perform basic troubleshooting of weld machines and accessories as required. • Supports safety and continuous improvement programs. • Maintain and support equipment records and repair history. • Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on company equipment and various specialty tools. • Learn how to maintain all types of custom equipment. • Other duties as assigned. Role Specifications • 5+ years of experience working in an environment such as a mechanical/fabrication shop, on a farm, or in a similar industry where you have been repairing equipment, building structures based on design, or building custom features for equipment. • The best fit for this position is someone who possesses a willingness to learn and has the potential to become a Jack of all Trades because a jack of all trades is a master of none, but often times better than a master of one. • Valid Class 5 license with no more than 5 demerits in the last 3 years required. • Class 1 or 3 license would be an asset. This can be acquired at CEDA for the right applicant. • Experience with Insight and other diagnostic equipment and programming. • An understanding of production processes, welding equipment and fabrication equipment such as a band saw, chop saw, grinders, overhead crane, forklift etc. • MIG and stick welding are required as well as experience with torch and plasma cutting. • General familiarity with mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems is an asset. • Fitting skills and creative thinking would be an asset. • Able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. • Able to provide a negative pre-employment drug and alcohol test for both pre-employment and client sites you may have to attend.
