Number of Openings: 1 Worker Type: Permanent Position Overview: Reporting to the Production Manager, the EMP Component Rebuild Technician (Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic or Millwright) is responsible for troubleshooting and overseeing repairs on a variety of Caterpillar equipment. This includes disassembly, inspection and reassembly of components from Caterpillar 7495 Electric Rope Shovels, Hydraulic Excavators, 49R Blast Hole Drills and Electric Draglines. Job Description: • Disassemble, inspect and reassemble finished goods components supporting Caterpillar mining equipment • Responsible to perform work safely within the shop component rebuild setting • Responsible to meet company and customer requirements of reducing costs through parts reusability and salvage opportunities • Collaborate with onsite technical services to diagnose component failure and provide feedback and discussion • Perform other related duties as required Qualifications: • HET or Millwright Journeyperson ticket, or interprovincial Red Seal, is required. • Preference given to those who fall within the value stream & qualify as defined in Schedule C. • Understanding of mining equipment components • Ability to use precision measuring equipment, hand, power and pneumatic tools. • Ability to operate Overhead and Jib Cranes as well knowledge and experience in Hoisting and Rigging. • Previous work experience on mining component rebuilds (disassembly, assembly, inspection or field service capacity) is preferred. • Previous work experience with components from Cat 7495 Electric Rope Shovels, Terex Hydraulic Excavators, 49R Electric Blast Hole Drills and Electric Draglines is preferred. • Ability to disassemble and recognize failed and non-failed components and able to perform inspections, perform and obtain precision measurements is preferred. • Experience in reading and interpreting component assembly, disassembly and bill of material drawings and lists is preferred. • Demonstrate a mid to high level of technical skills and knowledge with Brake, Planetary and Straight Gear Train Systems is preferred. • Knowledge of Planetary and Straight Gear Train Assemblies and Bearing Installations is preferred. • Must have a high attention and personal engagement to industry safety protocols and standards. • Must be able to communicate written and spoken English effectively. • Ability to regularly lift and handle material weighing up to 40 pounds. • A condition of employment is the ability to be fit tested and the ability to wear a respirator. • Candidate must demonstrate the ability to work in a safe manner and comply in all aspects of the organizations policies and procedures.
