As a Field Heavy Duty Mechanic, you’ll troubleshoot and perform running repairs on mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems and perform preventative maintenance across a wide range of Caterpillar Mining Equipment. Your work will include: • Trouble shoot, repair and maintain CAT equipment in a field environment • Respond to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed. • Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required • Completing required paperwork and maintaining clear customer communication Specific Skills & Experience • Interprovincial Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Certification • Clean Drivers’ Abstract (5 yr) • 3+ years experience as a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician, with demonstrated time in the field • Strong skills in Electrical, Hydraulic and Emissions systems • Engine and/or component rebuilding experience would be beneficial • Transmission or Hydraulic testing experience • Previous gas engine and power generation experience would be considered an asset Important Details: • 7 x 7 Continuous Shift based in Elkford, BC • $300/month LOA (Commuters/non-residents (80+ km away) who provide own housing) • A condition of employment includes the ability to obtain Customer Site access (Drug & Alcohol, fitness testing) and wear a respirator where applicable Union Membership: This is a unionized position.
