The Field Service Technician/Diesel Mechanic will maintain a diverse fleet of portable power generation units and related support equipment for National Oilwell Varco, L.P. Work is performed both in the company shop and on‑site at customer locations, providing critical power solutions for essential operations. • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, generators, and ancillary equipment. • Perform routine preventive maintenance on all assigned units. • Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical system failures. • Maintain accurate service records and complete work orders. • Coordinate parts ordering and inventory management. • Provide on‑site technical support and training to customers. • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies. • Assist in the assembly, testing, and commissioning of new equipment. • Respond to emergency service calls and prioritize critical repairs. • Collaborate with engineering and supply chain teams to improve equipment reliability. • High school diploma or GED; technical certification preferred. • 3+ years experience as a diesel mechanic or field service technician. • EPA‑certified diesel engine service technician (or equivalent). • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and electronic service manuals. • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; ability to travel. • Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings. • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail. • Excellent communication and customer service abilities. • Physical ability to lift 50 lb and work in confined spaces. • Commitment to safety and adherence to OSHA standards.
