Employer description

The Machinist will work in the machine shop supporting operations by setting up and operating manual lathes, manual milling machines, hydraulic presses, and various saws. The role focuses on tooling fabrication and reworking production components that fall outside the original drawing call‑outs, ensuring they meet quality standards before returning to the line. Moderate machining experience and strong blueprint reading skills are preferred. • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders. • Set up, operate, and maintain manual lathes and manual milling machines. • Use hydraulic presses and saws to fabricate and modify tooling. • Perform rework on production parts that do not meet specification. • Inspect finished parts for dimensional accuracy and surface finish. • Document machining parameters, tool wear, and job completion data. • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. • Assist in preventive maintenance of shop equipment. • Communicate with production and quality teams to resolve issues. • Follow all company safety policies and procedures. • High school diploma or GED; technical training preferred. • 2+ years of hands‑on machining experience with manual equipment. • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings. • Knowledge of machining tolerances, surface finish, and material properties. • Ability to set up and operate hydraulic presses and various saws. • Basic math skills (algebra, geometry) for calculations and measurements. • Familiarity with shop safety practices and PPE usage. • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Flexibility to work overtime or shift changes as production demands.
