Your Opportunity The HVDC and Power Systems Engineer/Specialist will be involved in HVDC and power system studies projects under the guidance of professional engineers. The role will include a variety of tasks that may include assisting with the preparation of conceptual designs and technical specifications, and verification of conformance of supplier designs with technical specifications for HVDC and high voltage power cable projects. The role may also include the modelling, simulation, development of scripts/automation tools, and analysis of power systems using EMT and/or RMS software applications. Your Key Responsibilities • Apply knowledge of the general concepts of relevant electrical engineering elements including the design HVDC systems and the analysis and study of power systems. • Assist with preparation of drawings, reports, and technical specifications. • Conduct calculations and perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned. • Prepare scripts and programming to assist with the automation of the simulations, compilation of results, and analysis. • Prepare study reports, identifying assumptions, methodology, analysis, and results. • Collaborate with the project teams, including other Stantec team members, clients, and suppliers. Your Capabilities and Credentials • Good understanding of electrical power systems and power electronics theory. • Experience with power system analysis software and programming would be an asset (PSCAD, PSSE, PSLF). • Proficiency with programming languages (Python preferred) • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Developing cooperative skills in working efficiently with a team. • Self-starter able to work independently given appropriate guidance and direction.
