We are seeking a Senior Construction Advisor or Contract Administrator to join our Winnipeg-based Water team. This is an opportunity for a seasoned construction professional with 20+ years of experience in contracting or consulting environments to lead complex construction scopes and bring practical, trusted guidance to clients, contractors, and project teams. You will provide leadership through construction, from contract interpretation and field issue resolution to change management, payment review, close-out, and dispute avoidance. Our work includes water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, underground infrastructure, and other major municipal projects across the Prairies and Territories. Your Key Responsibilities • Lead construction administration and provide senior oversight for complex projects. • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, project managers, design teams, and contractors. • Interpret construction contracts and manage contractual correspondence, changes, claims, and disputes. • Resolve field issues with practical solutions that balance safety, quality, cost, schedule, and contractual requirements. • Review contractor submittals, payment applications, change requests, schedules, and close-out documentation. • Guide project teams on constructability, sequencing, construction risk, and contractor performance. • Coordinate responses and documentation from multidisciplinary design teams. • Lead substantial performance, occupancy, deficiency, warranty, and contract close-out activities. • Mentor contract administrators, field staff, and technical professionals. • Represent Stantec professionally in meetings with clients, contractors, regulators, and community stakeholders. Your Capabilities and Credentials • 20+ years of progressively responsible experience in construction management, contract administration, or construction leadership. • Proven experience leading construction scopes in a contracting, consulting engineering, owner, or program management environment. • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, specifications, project controls, change management, claims, scheduling, and risk management. • Experience with municipal infrastructure, water and wastewater, industrial, or heavy civil projects. • Sound commercial judgment and a demonstrated ability to resolve complex field and contractual issues. • Strong leadership, negotiation, relationship-building, and communication skills. • Commitment to safe, high-quality construction delivery. • Experience mentoring construction and technical professionals. • A valid Class 5 driver’s license and access to a vehicle are required. • Ability and willingness to travel to project sites throughout the Prairies and Territories, occasionally on short notice. Education and Experience • Degree, diploma, certificate, or equivalent experience in engineering, construction management, construction technology, or a related discipline. • A minimum of 20 years of relevant experience leading construction delivery, contract administration, construction management, or contractor operations.
