To meet our growth challenges, WSP is currently seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Designer to join our teams located in any of our offices in Alberta, Ontario and Atlantic provinces. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Electrical Engineering, you will join a dynamic and growing Resources team within the Mining and Metals Subsector where you will be responsible to plan, design, implement, and support Instrumentation and control designs used in the operation of heavy industrial mining and metals projects. Your Impact • You will be responsible for developing independently – Instrument index, I/O list, Instrument datasheets, Cable schedule, MTOs. • You will have solid experience developing control room layouts, Instrument location layouts, Remote I/O panels, Junction Box layouts, and PLC Panel sizing and layouts, standard installation details, loop drawings, and schematics and wiring • Ability to work on control philosophy and control narratives with minimum supervision and guidance. • Knowledge about ISA standards and applications in Instrumentation & Controls and strong understanding of industrial processes (mining, water treatment, Oil & gas, industrial or manufacturing) • Flexibility and ability to travel to site for field inspection and as-needed work at Client facility. • Familiar with communication systems including CCTV, Security Access card readers, and fiber optic network. • Ability and flexibility to work on electrical design and drafting tasks in parallel to Instrumentation & Controls. The Skills That Set You Apart • Minimum Technical diploma from a reputable post-secondary institution in industrial instrumentation technology or engineering technology • At least 10+ years’ experience in a similar role, ideally within a consulting environment with a focus on electrical instrumentation and controls • Solid understanding and experience with E&I C installation requirements along with understanding of impact on construction • Experience in heavy industrial projects desired - mining and metals projects experience a definite asset • Strong command of AutoCAD and MicroStation • Experience with 3D CADD a benefit Why Choose WSP?
