Employer description

The Lube Technician is responsible for performing preventive maintenance activities including lubrication of rotating equipment, monitoring lubricant conditions, maintaining lubrication schedules, and assisting in the overall reliability of plant equipment. Candidates must be committed to working safely, following site procedures, and supporting efficient plant operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Perform lubrication activities on pumps, motors, compressors, gearboxes, fans, and other rotating equipment. • Inspect equipment for proper lubrication levels and identify potential maintenance issues. • Maintain lubrication schedules and document completed work activities. • Apply and handle lubricants according to manufacturer specifications and site requirements. • Collect oil samples and assist with condition monitoring programs. • Change oils, greases, filters, and related consumables as required. • Clean and maintain lubrication equipment and storage areas. • Read and interpret lubrication routes, equipment tags, and work orders. • Assist maintenance personnel during outages, repairs, and unit turnarounds as needed. • Follow all Chevron and Zachry safety policies, procedures, and permits. • Maintain good housekeeping practices in all work areas. • Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications • High school diploma or GED preferred. • Previous industrial lubrication, maintenance, or mechanical experience preferred. • Knowledge of rotating equipment and lubrication best practices preferred. • Ability to identify basic mechanical issues and report findings. • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. • Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship. • Must be able to successfully complete all site-specific requirements for Chevron Pasadena. Required Skills • Basic mechanical aptitude. • Ability to read and follow written instructions. • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and co-workers. • Ability to use hand tools and lubrication equipment safely. • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Physical Requirements • Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing, and lifting. • Will work in an industrial environment and be exposed to varying weather conditions. • Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, and work from elevated surfaces. • Must be able to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds. • Must have adequate vision, hearing, and mobility to safely perform assigned duties. • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, and other site-specific PPE. Work Environment • Industrial refinery environment. • Exposure to noise, dust, heat, humidity, and other environmental conditions common to refinery operations. • May work around moving mechanical equipment and process units. • Overtime, weekends, nights, and holiday work may be required based on business needs.
